Courageous
JOIN A COMMUNITY LIFE GROUP TODAY AND LEARN WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT RAISING A GODLY FAMILY.
We will be going through a six to eight session COURAGEOUS series during the winter/spring quarter in homes throughout the community following the movie.
We know how expensive childcare can be for home groups. In an effort to make this experience affordable to families, childcare for these host homes will be paid for by KCC.
See below for more information.
Honor Begins at Home
Four men, one calling: To serve and protect.
As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, David Thomson, and Shane Fuller are confident and focused. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood.
While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they're quickly discovering that their standard is missing the mark.

When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God ... and to their children?
Filled with action-packed police drama, COURAGEOUS is the fourth film from Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. Riveted moviegoers will once again find themselves laughing, crying, and cheering as they are challenged and inspired by everyday heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a lifelong impact on their children.
Protecting the streets is second nature to these men. Raising their children in a God-honoring way? That's courageous.
KCC WILL HAVE HOST HOMES FOR A SIX TO EIGHT SESSION SERIES FOLLOWING THIS MOVIE EVENT BEGINNING IN MID JANUARY OF 2012. THESE HOME GROUPS WILL MEET TWICE A MONTH FROM MID-JANUARY TO MID MAY. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO BE A HOST HOME AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MORE INFORMATION ON HOW TO JOIN ONE, PLEASE EMAIL GETTINGCONNECTED@KCCFAMILY.ORG. See below for a general idea of this new way to connect the community to our KCC family.
These Community Life Groups are designed to create a starting place for KCC attenders to intersect with families in their neighborhoods and welcome them into their homes for the movie and an eight week Bible study centering on family values and doing life together as families. The purpose of this ministry is to encourage families in their commitment to Jesus Christ and intentionally connect those outside of a church fellowship with our family of believers here at KCC through various homes in and around the community, providing a safe place to have opportunities for relationship building.
Here are the four steps to begin this opportunity:
1. Pray. Ask the Lord for guidance on how He can use you through this opportunity. You do not have to be a teacher. You do not have to be a scholar of the Bible. You do not have to prepare lessons for this series. All of the work is done for you. Just be willing to be used of God and open your home. Pray for God to show you who you can invite from your neighborhood or network of friends to share in this Community Life Group Experience.
2. Become familiar with the resources. Discover what you have available to you as it relates to invitations, the workbook study guide, (KCC will pay for the study kit but participants will pay $5.00 for the workbook), the required KCC Covenant Agreement, the KCC childcare voucher program, and suggestions on how to make it a successful time together in your home. The eight week study will take individuals and small groups into biblical truths for a godly family, exploring topics such as redeeming your history, walking with integrity, winning and blessing the hearts of your children, and more. Each session uses movie clips to engage people in discussion. This series is designed in such a way to be non-threatening but motivational for people from all different religious and non-religious backgrounds.
3. Invite KCC families AND families in your neighborhood to your home for this six to eight session study during the winter/spring quarter. Take advantage of this opportunity to get a couple of families from the church together along with a couple of families in your neighborhood. Your home can truly be a connecting place for those looking to find purposeful friendships. Use the invitations above to distribute to those around you. We also have hard copies of these invitations at our Welcome Center.
4. Create an environment that is welcoming and authentic. You can never go wrong when you have food! Make sure your living room is a safe place to share and allows for authentic and transparent conversation. One of the best ways to do this is to have an openness yourself to failings, hardships, and the need for God's grace in your life. Those environments are often the best places for God to convict and challege. All of us fall short, especially as it relates to families, so create an environment that is real and everyone can relate to.
Thank you for your willingness to open your home and use it for God's glory! If you would like to host a group or simply join a group, please email gettingconnected@kccfamily.org.
