acts A.C.T.S. stands for Achieving Christian Traits Successfully. The purpose of this program is to help children learn the biblical character traits listed in Galatians 5 and 2 Peter 1. This is a year long program that grows with each child in our Children's Ministry.

If you are the parent of a k-5th grader, please enroll your child in this program. Your child will learn the following spiritual character traits: Knowledge, Self Control, Joy, Kindness, Faith, Love, Endurance, Peace, Gentleness, Patience, Goodness and Godliness.

Think how much better life will be for your child if he/she learns these traits and practices them. Your child can enroll at any time of the year!  Don't miss this opportunity!

CAST OF CHARACTERS

ACTSOL, the Lion is the mascot for this program. ACTSOL will help children learn each month how to apply each of the character traits.
On the first Sunday of each month, Actsol and his puppet friends (Daniel, Zebulon, Esther, Abigail and Rebekah) will sing, act and speak to children about good character.

HOW THE PROGRAM WAS DEVELOPED

For the last several months, the character team has met regularly developing ideas that will make this program successful. Each member of the team has worked hard to produce skits, music, art, object lessons, posters, banners, etc. to explain character development. September 13 will represent the culmination of hundreds of hours of intense effort.

This team has worked under the special leadership of Carolyn Garrett. Mrs. Garrett is the former Principal of Arrowhead Elementary School and had already devleoped a character program for public schools employing the "Fruit of the Spirit" in Galatians 5. This program has been adopted by many schools across the country and even in Ireland.

  • There will be a character trait for each month. The trait for the month will be introduced on the first Sunday of each month in the opening session of Sunday School.
  • There will also be a skit from the puppets reinforcing the trait of the month. A short lesson on the trait will be presented including scripture that will support it.
  • Children will also learn a theme song representing all of the traits. This theme song will be used weekly as appropriate.
  • The Children's Center and classrooms will display posters and banners of the monthly character trait.
  • Parents will also receive a brochure describing the program in more detail so they can help at home.

Theme Scripture

Galatians 5:22-26

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
